Probability and Statistics

Probability and statistics here has two topics. Introduction to Probability, for grade 10, goes from writing out a sample space to tree diagrams, conditional probability and independent events. Statistics and Inference, a first-year university course, asks how a claim about a population is drawn from a sample, and how much of that claim the sample can support. Lessi, an AI teacher, teaches both live.

About Probability and Statistics

Probability starts by listing everything that could happen and counting the part you care about. The grade 10 course moves from classical probability and the complementary event to unions and intersections, two-stage experiments, conditional probability and independence. The university course picks up from there: random variables, expectation and variance, the sampling distribution, and what a sample can and cannot say about the population it came from.

Data also appears elsewhere on the site: grade 9 Data and Statistics sits under computing, and the math bagrut courses include their own probability. Here, Lessi explains each idea on a board and out loud, with a short quiz after each step. The first 60 minutes are free with an account.
