About History
World history here moves through the eras. Grade 6 begins with ancient Egypt and the river that decided where it happened. Later come the Industrial Revolution, the French Revolution, the classical world of Greece and Rome, and the Second World War and the Holocaust. In grade 12 a bagrut course follows nationalism, the First World War and the road to the state.
Jewish texts start early. Grade 2 reads the first stories of Bereshit, grade 3 opens the Chumash with Rashi, and grade 5 follows Shemot from slavery to the wilderness. Then come the Mishnah, Nevi'im, a first sugya of Gemara, and Tanakh and Talmud for the bagrut. Jewish history covers medieval Jewish communities, Land of Israel studies, the chain of transmission, and Zionism and the founding of Israel.
Older students can study the Arab and Islamic world and the modern Middle East, read sources and historiography, and, in the first year of university, learn research methods. Every topic is a live lesson with Lessi, an AI teacher, on a board, out loud, with short quizzes, at the student's pace. The first 60 minutes are free with an account, and topic pages have free printable worksheets.
Common questions
What ages is the history here for?
From grade 2, about ages 7 to 8, to first-year university. The youngest start with the stories of Bereshit. World history begins in grade 6 with ancient Egypt, and high school reaches the French Revolution, the Holocaust, Zionism and the bagrut. University students will find research methods and sources.
Can my child study Tanakh and Talmud with Lessi?
Yes. Tanakh runs from Bereshit in grade 2, Chumash with Rashi in grade 3 and Shemot in grade 5 to Nevi'im in grade 8 and two bagrut courses in grade 11, one of them with the commentators. Mishnah starts in grade 6, Gemara in grade 8, and Talmud at three units comes in grade 12. Lessi explains each text out loud, step by step.
Is there history for the bagrut?
Yes. A grade 12 course covers nationalism in Europe, the First World War, how a republic became a dictatorship in Germany, and the Final Solution, on the way to the state. There are also courses on Zionism, advanced history with sources and historiography, and Tanakh and Talmud for the bagrut.
Are there free history worksheets?
Yes. Every history topic page has free printable worksheets on the same topics as the lessons. The first 60 minutes of lessons with Lessi are free with an account, and Ask Lessi can answer a question about a date, a source or a verse from the same free minutes.
Is Lessi a real history teacher?
Lessi is an AI teacher, not a person. Lessi teaches live, explaining on a board, out loud, with short quizzes, at the student's pace. Outside the lessons, Ask Lessi answers questions about history and Jewish texts, free with an account.
