The Middle East and the Islamic World
The Middle East and the Islamic world here has two topics for high school. The Arab and Islamic World, for grade 11, covers fourteen centuries from Arabia before Islam to the empires, cities and scholarship it built. Modern Middle East Studies, for grade 12, covers the region since the Ottoman Empire. Lessi, an AI teacher, teaches both live, at the student's pace.

About The Middle East and the Islamic World
The grade 11 course studies a civilization on its own terms: tribes and trade in Arabia, Muhammad, the Quran and the community at Medina, the conquests, and the cities and learning that followed. The grade 12 course begins after the Ottomans, with mandates and borders drawn on a map, then turns to oil and water, the conflicts that shaped the states of the region, and how to study a region you are part of. Lessi explains on a board and out loud, with short quizzes, and the first 60 minutes are free with an account.
